Candidates for LASIK

LASIK has proven to be one of the most effective treatments available to correct refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Gordon Schanzlin New Vision Institute has been a leader in the field of laser vision correction for decades, and our practice was one of the first in the United States to offer LASIK, a state-of-the-art procedure that has helped millions reduce – and even eliminate – their dependence on glasses and contact lenses.

During your initial consultation with one of our experienced laser eye surgeons, you will be given a comprehensive vision evaluation to determine your candidacy for LASIK. Ideal candidates for this treatment typically include those who:

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Have corneas that are thick enough for the procedure to be effective
  • Are not suffering from eye diseases such as cataracts or glaucoma
  • Have had a vision prescription that has remained stable for at least one year
  • Are in reasonably good overall health

Once your eyes are examined and LASIK is determined to be a good option for your needs, our ophthalmologist will create a customized treatment plan to help you meet your goals. We offer highly-advanced, All-Laser LASIK treatment at our practice that can provide you with very quick treatment and maximize your comfort. If this procedure is not ideal for your needs, we can recommend alternatives such as PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) or implantable contact lenses that can help you achieve similar results.
